It appears that humans, from all corners of the globe, have been in search of meaning and purpose in nature, all of its beings, and beyond for tens of millennia (Renfrew and Morley, 2009). Ancient religions were centred around divine spirits or a divine being who must be worshipped in order for one to sustain a flourishing life. Humans were to dedicate their existence to an omnipresent being through selfless acts that gave purpose and greater meaning to their lives. Physical wellbeing was secondary as it was perceived to be a reflection of one’s spiritual state.
